World of Warcraft And The Best Guide Around

April 16th, 2011 by Kim

World of Warcraft, is the massive MMORPG game that is played with what is really (in todays standards anyway) very simple software on a PC or laptop with an Internet connection – and judging by it its success,  it is quite possibly the most fun, or addictive, of any Internet games on the planet today.

World of Warcraft has been played by tens of millions of people for what is nearing close to two decades, and its popularity doesn’t seem to be waning yet. Most WOW junkies will tell you that it is just extremely fun and undoubtedly the coolest game on the market.

Typically, World of Warcraft quickly sells out at stores when the latest version is released. And for those who just can’t get enough of World of Warcraft, they invest in guides, such as the best WoW leveling guide.

Yet as a newb without a World of Warcraft leveling guide, you will take a long time to meet the level of success that makes WOW so much more rewarding. A leveling guide can make the WOW game far more interesting and probably a lot more more fun than it could have been without a leveling guide. People without the need for such a guide are talented and skilled by nature (or just freaks), have played the game for way too much time,  or really just have too much spare time on their hands :)

It doesn’t need to be said that many game media have at one time or another rated World of Warcraft as the number one Internet game of all time, and it has good reason to be rated so – and even is one of the top gift ideas that you can give an avid gamer (assuming that they are in the minority that doesn’t already own a copy). It is extremely fun to play, and it has been enjoyed by millions of people all over the globe for a long time now. For me, it ranks right up there with BF2 for long-term playability.

Yet, if you’re new to WOW, and you don’t use a World of Warcraft leveling guide, you could be in for a world of trouble. This real-time strategy game is by far one of the best Internet games of the new millennium, and yes it rocked the 90s with previous versions as well -  which means many thousands of gamers know how to play this game very well. So you could be in for a steep learning curve.

Don’t be put off by the frustration of being a newb in this game -  the vast majority of people don’t realize the fun that can be had, and  with a leveling guide it really does make the game play that much more interesting.

Fixing Broken Hard Drive Issues | Hardware And Software Issues

April 2nd, 2011 by Kim

Using regular computer maintenance techniques it should be possible to fix broken hard drive issues on many occasions. In particular, this requires checking the hardware as well as the software. This post goes through the various troubleshooting checks you can do.

The first check to perform is to manually inspect the cables connected to the hard drive for signs of damage. Make sure connector pins have not been pushed in, bent or lost. Clear out dust from inside the computer to make sure the broken hard drive is not overheating. Visually inspect the hard drive enclosure for signs of adequate damage or any sort of burnt out components. This is the one type of hdd repair however that is best left up to a PC repair specialist to attempt to fix.

Next, start doing your software and BIOS checks. Open the BIOS menu and identify if the system correctly picks up your broken hard drive read it may be that another component or peripheral has conflicted with the drive. In which case, try removing the offending hardware component to test out your hard drive.

Another software check that is critical to do is checking the hard drive sectors for any corruption. This can occur due to physical damage to the platters themselves as well as disk management software issues. Use Windows error checking tool to performance test. If the computer can’t start up correctly because of the broken hard drive then boot the system from emergency boot disks in order to run the sector scan.

Finally, only resort to using data recovery software if your other attempts at doing HDD repair have not been successful. Install the software onto a second partition or a separate hard drive altogether. If your computer will not start then make use of an external drive casing to house the broken hard drive first and connect it to a second computer.

The Best Netbooks

March 22nd, 2011 by Kim

The best netbook is something small and light but uncompromising in its power and battery life. When you shop for laptops under $300 you typically will find netbooks with the small and light down to a T, but they will be under powered and have small batteries. Which laptop meets your criteria is up to you, but here are two laptops that meet all the qualifications to be some of the best netbooks that are currently available.

The Sony VAIO X series has an 11.1 inch screens but weigh only 1.6 lbs. The size to weight ratio is amazing considering what it has inside of it. It comes equipped with a solid state drive (SSD), which helps conserve weight because there are no moving parts. It also has a powerful 2.0 GHz Intel Atom processor powering a full Windows 7 Home Premium operating system (as oppose to Windows 7 Starter which most low end netbooks come with).  One of the best things for people on the go is that it comes with a mobile broadband connection built into the laptop, so you don’t have to worry about the usb connector breaking off as it bumps into something.

When you think of powerful laptops sold from major retailers you think of Alienware computers. Alienware is a company that specializes in gaming desktops and laptops. They have since been bought up by Dell and are now selling premium gaming netbooks. The Alienware M11x laptop is a super power in the netbook realm. With a Intel i7 processor, 8GB of ram, and an upgradable SSD no expense was spared in making this the best gaming platform in an 11.6inch container.

These two laptops come in at exactly the same price, $1099. If you have the money and you want power, the obvious choice is the Alienware netbook. However, if the way the netbook looks on the outside is of any consideration you might shy away from its aggressive stylings and get the sleek and stylish Sony VAIO X.

Who has the Best Laptops for Under $300?

March 16th, 2011 by Kim

The prices of laptops change constantly, and this is even truer when it comes to the discounted models, as the best deals can often be scooped up before many people are even aware of them.  This is a specific problem with the online auction websites like E-Bay (www.EBay.com), where items can be bought as quickly as they are made available.  While there are some ways that users can employ alerts and watch particular items on these websites, the best results tend to be what you find right then and there.  Not to say that these websites are not good resources, just ones that have very particular traits that make them beneficial and limited at the same time.

For those looking for regular selections and no bidding or auctions, the manufacturers and retail outlets have some hidden gems for the clever shopper as well.  The manufacturers are some of the best resources for laptops under 300 dollars, ranging from surplus items and slow-selling ones to refurbished laptops under 300 dollars, and in some cases, even less than $300. As technological advances force prices down for cell phones, cell phone lookup services, computer hardware and other hi-tech products and services, prices for laptops should also decrease in the future.  However, this depends on what additional features are added to the computers, including expensive basic software packages.

Online resources like www.TigerDirect.com are also some great avenues for refurbished, new and used laptops, and they even have the resources to design your own laptops under 300 dollars.  Many users with higher performance needs utilize these build-your-own websites to take base model computers and enhance them for specific needs like gaming, graphics, video and many other uses.

Another tip that can help you get the most for your money, even when buying new laptops under 300 dollars, is using the reviews and test results from outlets like PC World, at www.PCWorld.com, to see if there are any models with known problems or restrictions, and these outlets can also be some very good sources for finding the best outlets and dealers selling them as well.

WOW Cheats – They Can Be Useful!

March 14th, 2011 by Kim

Almost all the games found on the Internet today are MMPRPG, which are also known as Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games.  Similar to all games that feature a big database – the World of Warcraft also has a great base of dedicated players.  They depend on the World of Warcraft cheats to get to higher  levels  of the game quicker .

Blizzed is the producer of the World of Warcraft, and this company totally disapproves using wow cheats.  This will not mean that those who use cheats stop using it.  Gamers will always continue to keep using them.

The Grand Masters of the World of Warcraft keep a continuous track of the game in order to identify the players who are using World of Warcraft cheats.  In total, there are about 8 million games in the whole world.  From this total, only a small amount will be using cheats and this will be difficult to find.

Is there anything possible to be done to avoid people using cheats?  No, players will not stop using World of Warcraft cheats.  It is possible that if you are a player and you happen to meet another player who is using World of Warcraft cheats you may contact the Grand Masters with a complaint.  They will hand the situation directly.  It is their responsibility to judge the player accordingly.

The World of Warcraft cheats websites are becoming very popular and this shows that gradually most players are getting tempted to use these cheats. Even on facebook, there are several groups that share these cheat codes. So if you are one of those many gamers who suffer from facebook addiction, you may find a lot of groups and fan pages to get wow cheats.

There is no possibility of stopping any people visiting these websites and using these cheats.  Basically, these sites have no restrictions and they can put in whatever they want.  Players will continue to use these cheats to go higher in their levels.  Hopefully this will eventually see an end when they are caught by Blizzed.

The Ear Force PX5 Wireless Gaming Headset

March 13th, 2011 by Kim

It’s rare that a product can come right out of the gate and start dominating the market right away. But the Ear Force PX5 made by Turtle Beach I think is by far the best gaming headset that you can find for your PS3 or Xbox in 2011. If you have never tried your favorite video games with the use of a headset before, you are really missing out on some great features these days. It’s much more than being able to hear the sound more loudly, since a great model like they Ear Force PX5 fully enhances or alters sound so that you get an entirely immersive experience that will actually improve your gaming performance as well. Here are some features of the product that will make you fall in love with it right away.

Full surround sound – the configuration of the speakers allow you to enjoy 360 degree of audio as if you were standing in the middle of your gaming environment with the action happening around you. And you also get full control of the sound since there are 18 programmable features that you can tailor to your own personal preferences.

Wireless Bluetooth chat – you are going to want this advantage when participating in any game that requires online cooperation or any chat feature at all. This will allow you to stay in contact with teammates and coordinate your plans so that you can defeat your enemy, or even trash talk your opponents after you have thoroughly trounced them. There is also a feature that allows you to disguise your voice for added fun and strategy.

Overall, I don’t believe you really can’t go wrong with this gaming headset, although I must say the major disadvantage is the price. It is on the expensive side with many online retailers selling this product at around $250. You could get by with a set of wireless headphones for TV at a cheaper price, but if you happen to have the budget then you really can’t go wrong with the Ear Force PX5.

Computer Backup Options | Using Local Programs For Synchronization

March 6th, 2011 by Kim

Of all the computer backup options available these days, making local copies is still the preferred option. In this article I’ll show you how synchronizing data from a computer to an external hard disk is probably the most beneficial method you could use.

To complete a data backup to an external hard drive you require the external disk drive itself and synchronization software. The synchronization applications help you to clone the data in an optimal way as they only copy across files that are changed or new (e.g. freeware applications like Sync Toy).

The cost of this type of setup is minimal these days thanks to the low cost of HDD memory. You also have the flexibility to pick and choose which files are going to be backed up so could decide to just copy critical files or be more thorough and also duplicate operating system programs (e.g. the Windows registry file).

If you go for a high capacity external storage device then you could even make a ghost image of entire system. This will prove to be invaluable if the system becomes corrupted (e.g. a blue screen of death) as you can simply restore the files direct from the backup drive.

The problems with these types of computer backup options is really not with the software or hardware but with the user. The responsibility is with the owner to run the data backup software on a regular basis in order to ensure you have the latest and greatest files stored in 2 locations. If you forget to do this then you lose whatever data was created in the meantime. The workaround for this is to connect your synchronization software to a task scheduler to automate the process. The downside to doing this however is that your laptop/computer and the backup versions of your data are stored so close together that they run the danger of both being lost/damaged/stolen at the same time.
