When Will The New iPad Arrive
It seems likely that the new iPad will be an iPad mini. Although there is no confirmation form apple yet it seems that from leaked reports coming out of Taiwan that a few companies are already producing 7 inch screens for the new iPad 2.
For iPad case makers this will be great news as it will mean that they will sell many more cases to protect the new model. With the original iPad only six months old it does seem unlikely that the new iPad will only be an updated version of the current model. It seems too soon for that.
Much more likely is a 7 inch iPad that will be much lower in price and more affordable to a lot more people. It will mean that apple will have a much better chance of taking on Amazon for the coveted e-book reader sales. Currently the Kindle 3 is the most popular e-reader on the market. With Amazon having slashed the price for the new version sales have sky rocketed.
The current iPad is simply a little too large for most people to enjoy reading a book on it but if they release a 7 inch version it will be much closer to the size of the Kindle and there is no doubt that apple lovers will swoop to get the iPad mini rather than the Kindle, even if the price for the Kindle is orders of magnitude cheaper to buy.
But currently it is all conjecture. We will just have to wait and see what happens later in the year and see if the new iPad 2 really is going to be a mini version or if all that we will get will be maybe a new iPad with a camera. But I am pretty sure that what we will see will be a smaller and much more affordable new iPad that is designed to take on Amazon and the Kindle 3.
